Founded in 1992, Ryegate Associates is a local powerhouse, leading the charge in providing the community with reliable electricity through our cutting-edge 20 MW wood-fired electrical power (biomass) generation facility. Our steadfast dedication to environmental sustainability shines through in our innovative Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control system, effectively reducing emissions from our plant.

At the company, we pride ourselves in our enduring commitment to lighting up the local area. With our state-of-the-art facility as our cornerstone, we continue to raise the bar for sustainable power generation, setting a high standard that benefits our community and the environment.

Our Ryegate Power Generation Facility is staffed by a close-knit team of 21 individuals, many of whom are community members. Among our ranks is a regulatory forester, a guardian of our compliance with the Vermont Harvesting Regulations. This demonstrates our unwavering dedication to responsible forestry practices, safeguarding the natural beauty surrounding us.

In our relentless pursuit of sustainable energy solutions, we annually produce and deliver an impressive 250,000 tons of whole tree chips, significantly contributing to the renewable energy sector. Furthermore, our annual distribution of over 4,000 tons of wood ash finds valuable applications in various recycling programs, including its transformation into organic fertilizer for local farmers. This multi-pronged approach minimizes waste and enriches and supports our local agricultural community.

Our commitment to renewable energy receives further validation through our qualification for Renewable Energy Certificates in the New Hampshire and Connecticut renewable energy trading markets. This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and promoting clean, renewable energy sources.

We have forged a long-term power purchase agreement with VEPP Inc. to ensure our operations' unwavering success. This strategic partnership empowers us to sell the electricity generated at our facility, contributing seamlessly to the grid while maintaining steadfastness and dependability in our operations.
